Adding warmth to a living room

Hey! Long time no see! I’ve been busy over here….with…well life I guess! And after any sort of break in blog posts it makes it harder and harder to return with any passing day. That being said, I’m back with another post!! Well you know that already because you’re reading it! Anyways, on with the show!

Rachel over at was in dire need of a family room re-fresh. They moved in a year or so ago and haven’t quite gotten into the decorating stage yet. Anyone else fall into that? Just unpack the boxes and stop there? Well, that’s where I come in. She wanted to give this room some style, character, and make it feel like a home instead of just a house. A room they can relax in at the end of the day. Her requirements were that the room be kid and pet friendly. They’ve avoided rugs in the past as their dog is quite hard on the. Here’s their before pictures:

After talking with Rachel and going over the design questionnaire I give all of my new clients, I got to work measuring and dreaming up a new space for them. This is what I came up with:

We’re in the home stretch of finishing off the room. So I’ll of course show you the afters! Can’t wait for that tobacco basket to make it’s debut! I’ve been wanting one in my house for awhile! Guess I’ll live through this family! There’s also going to be an awesome art wall on one of those huge inviting walls. Tune in for the results!
